The Hadfield family of Crowden Hall.


Generation One.

Mr John Hadfield of Crodenbrook had a son, Thomas Hadfield, baptised on 22 January 1733. John Hadfield was the grandson of Thomas Hadfield of Crowden (died 1697) who built Crowden Hall.

Generation Two.

Thomas Hadfield was baptised on 22 January 1733. He married Mary Hadfield on 16 October 1755 in Mottram in Longdendale and they had a son, John Hadfield, baptised 11 December 1757.

Generation Three.

John Hadfield was baptised on 11 December 1757 in Mottram, Hanged as a fraudster 1803 in Carlisle. He married Ann Sutton on 12 Jan 1777 in Mottram in Longdendale. They had three children:
     Mary Hadfield born about 1777. Possibly baptised 30 November 1777 at St Mary Cray, Kent. She married William Moss on 29 May 1797 in Mottram in Longdendale.
     Evelyn Georgina Hadfield baptised 26 November 1779.
     Harriet Manners Hadfield, baptised 9 July 1782 in Whitchurch, Shropshire. She married Amer Green on 7 March 1800 in Kirkburton, All Hallows.
John Hadfield was hanged for fraud in 1803 in Carlisle.

Generation Four.

Evelyn Georgina Hadfield was baptised on 26 November 1779 in a private baptism and baptised again on 25 November 1780 in Whitchurch, Shropshire (the family was of Terrick, Bucks). She married George Platt, born about 1774, son of Joshua Platt and Sarah Hadfield on 2 September 1798 in Glossop (see The Platt family of Glossop).
