Generation One.

Jeremy Fielding was born about 1721. He lived in Whitfield and is named as Jeremiah in some records. He had five children:
     Mary Fielding baptised 16 March 1755.
     Elizabeth Fielding baptised 20 May 1758.
     Hannah Fielding.
     John Fielding born about 1762.
     Nanny Fielding.
Jeremy Fielding was buried on 3 September 1797 in Glossop, aged 76.

Generation Two.

Mary Fielding was baptised on 16 March 1755 in Glossop. She married Joseph Moss of Whitfield (son of Thomas Moss) on 22 April 1783 in Glossop Parish Church and they had two children:
     Mary Moss born 27 July and baptised 17 September 1783 in Glossop.
     James Moss born 23 January and baptised 24 February 1785 in Glossop.

Elizabeth Fielding was baptised on 20 May 1758 in Glossop. She married Robert Wood, son of Robert Wood and Alice Wood baptised 10 October 1753 in Glossop (see A Wood family of Whitfield), on 24 January 1779 in Glossop.

Hannah Fielding. She married Joseph Wood, son of Robert Wood and Martha Heginbottam (half brother of Elizabeth's husband) born about 1761 (see A Wood family of Whitfield) on 26 Dec 1784 in Glossop.

John Fielding was born about 1762. Parish register entries describe him as of Whitfield, Hurst and Nook. He was possibly married first to Mary Newton on 1 November 1787. She died on 29 September 1788, aged 18, and was buried on 1 October 1788 at Glossop. He married Sarah Moss (daughter of Thomas Moss and sister of Mary's husband) on 16 February 1790 in Glossop. John and Sarah had nine children:
     John Fielding born 8 July and baptised 10 August 1790 in Glossop.
     Charles Fielding born 30 October and baptised 1 November 1791 in Glossop. Possibly married Mary Howbrook on 16 March 1823 in Glossop parish church.
     Joseph Fielding born 14 February 1793.
     James Fielding born 23 March 1795.
     Mary Fielding born 19 May and baptised 9 October 1797 in Glossop, buried 22 May 1803 in Glossop.
     Mally Fielding born 26 December 1799, baptised 29 June 1801 in Glossop.
     William Fielding born 7 January and baptised 17 April 1803 in Glossop.
     Samuel Fielding born 19 July 1805, baptised 22 February 1806 in Glossop, buried 5 March 1806 in Glossop.
     Samuel Fielding born 25 December 1806, baptised 15 September 1807 in Glossop, buried 18 March 1821 in Glossop.
John Fielding was buried on 16 January 1827 in Glossop aged 65.

Nanny Fielding. She married James Smith, who was described in the parish register as of Moorside and of Glossop. They had six children:
     Hannah Smith born 22 October and baptised 4 December 1796 in Glossop.
     Martha Smith born 21 September and baptised 21 October 1798 in Glossop. She married Valentine Dewsnap born on 14 February 1799 in Glossop, son of John Dewsnap and Deborah Shaw (see Dewsnap family of Glossop), on 11 January 1822 in Glossop.
     John Smith born 3 May and baptised 10 June 1801 in Glossop.
     Betty Smith born 28 November 1803, baptised 1 January 1804 in Glossop.
     Alice Smith born 21 February and baptised 11 March 1806 in Glossop.
     Sarah Smith born 12 December 1807, baptised 7 February 1808 in Glossop.

Generation Three.

Children of John Fielding.

Joseph Fielding was born on 14 February and baptised on 10 May 1793 in Glossop. He was a cotton spinner, of Hurst in 1819 and 1822 and of Woodcock Road in 1823 and 1828. He married Hannah Garlick, who was born on 23 January and baptised on 29 March 1797 in Glossop Parish Church, the daughter of Samuel Garlick and Martha Thornely Syddall (see The Garlick family of Padfield) on 20 December 1818 in Glossop. Joseph and Hannah had four children:
     Mary Fielding baptised 28 November 1819 in Glossop Parish Church. Possibly buried 25 December 1839, age 20, Glossop parish church.
     John Fielding baptised 9 May 1822 in Glossop Parish Church. Possibly buried 25 December 1839, age 18, Glossop parish church.
     Joseph Fielding baptised 25 Nov 1823 in Glossop Parish Church. 1851 census, age given as 27 cotton weaver.
     Martha Fielding baptised 31 Aug 1828 in Glossop Parish Church.
Hannah was buried on 28 February 1832 at Glossop parish church, aged 35.
Joseph married Alice Rainfort (born about 1811) on 20 June 1843 in Glossop Parish Church. They had, however, been living together and had one child (William) already. At the time of the 1841 census the family is at Oldham Row. Joseph is a 44 year old cotton spinner with children Joseph (17, cotton spinner) and Martha (13). Alice Rainford (sic) is recorded with children Jane (9), Edwin (5), Thomas (3) and William (no age given). Joseph and Alice had five children:
     William Fielding baptised 25 April 1841 in Glossop Parish Church. Recorded as Rainford in 1841 census (as above) but baptised and registered as Fielding (mother's maiden name recorded as Rainforth). Census 1851 age given as 10, scholar, surname recorded as Fielding.
     Hannah Fielding baptised 2 March 1846 Glossop. In registration, mother's maiden name recorded as Renford. Census 1851 age given as 5. 1871 census age given as 25, cotton twister.
     Betty Fielding born 1850, baptised 27 Apr 1851 in Glossop Parish Church. In registration, mother's maiden name recorded as Redford. Census 1851 age given as 1. 1871 census age given as 19, cardroom hand.
     Mary Fielding born 1853. Mother's maiden name recorded as Renford. 1871 census age given as 17, weaver.
     Charles Fielding born 1856. Mother's maiden name recorded as Redford. 1871 census age given as 14, weaver.
At the time of the 1851 census the family was still at Oldham Row, Joseph aged 57 card room hand cotton, Alice aged 44.
Joseph possibly buried on 6 February 1858 at Glossop Parish Church aged 65.
In the 1871 census Alice was at 7 Oldham Street, a widowed housekeeper aged 60, born Darwen.
Alice was buried on 5 July 1876 in Glossop Cemetery (nonconformist grave 1771) aged 65.

James Fielding was born on 23 March and baptised on 28 June 1795 in Glossop. The parish register entries for the baptisms of the first 5 children describe him as "of Whitfield"; for the baptisms of Betty & Rowland he is described as "of Hayfield". James and his wife Mary had seven children:
     John Fielding baptised 14 February 1819.
     Christopher Fielding baptised 2 April 1820.
     Joseph Fielding baptised 6 January 1822 in Glossop. He married Sarah Bottom (widow of Joseph Bottom) on 22 January 1851 at St James', Whitfield, and became landlord of the Market Hotel. Sarah died aged 62 on 29 November 1869, when they were living in Norfolk Street, and was buried on 2 December in Glossop cemetery. The Glossop Record of 14 January 1871 carried an advertisement stating that a quantity of furniture, the property Mr. Joseph Fielding, late of the Market Hotel, Glossop, would be sold by auction on 16 January. Joseph has not been found in the 1871 census or subsequent records (including any record of his death).
     Cathrine Fielding baptised 2 March 1824 in Glossop.
     Maria Fielding baptised 9 April 1826 in Glossop.
     Betty Hague Fielding baptised 25 May 1828 in Glossop, died 17 March 1842, buried in Glossop.
     Rowland Fielding baptised 17 January 1830 in Glossop, died 29 January 1846, buried in Glossop.

Generation Four.

Child of Alice Rainfort.

Thomas Rainfort was baptised on 1 July 1838 in Glossop Parish Church as Renford (mother Alice Renford), no father mentioned. In the census of his surname was recorded as Rainford (see above). In the census of 1851 his age is given as 13, a cotton weaver, surname recorded as Fielding. He married Martha Rothwell (a 20 year old doubler, daughter of James Rothwell) on 17 September 1860 in St Andrew's church, Lancaster. The marriage register gives Thomas's surname Fielding (father Joseph Fielding, carder) and describes him as a a 22 year old weaver of 103 Fairfield Street, Lancaster (same as Martha). Thomas and Martha had three children:
     Joseph Fielding born 1861. 1871 census age given as 9, recorded both with his grandmother, Alice Fielding, and his parents.
     Mary D Fielding born about 1864 in Bradford, Yorkshire.
     Alice Fielding born about 1866 in Manchester. Census 1871 aged 5.
In the 1871 census 1871 the family is at 19 Oldham Row, surname Fielding. Thomas a cotton weaver aged 31; Martha a cotton doubler aged 30. born Manchester.

Children of James Fielding.

John Fielding was baptised on 14 February 1819 in Glossop. He married Ann Nutter, born about 1819 in Clitheroe, Lancs (daughter of Robert and Elizabeth Nutter) on 9 August 1840 in Stockport and they had five children:
     Sarah Fielding born about 1842.
     James Fielding born 23 October 1848.
     Hannah Maria Fielding born about 1851 in Glossop. She married Joseph Bloom in Concordville Pennsylvania.
     Joseph Fielding born Oct 1856.
     John W. Fielding born 19 November 1861.
The family was living at Green Vale, Glossop at the time of the 1851 census.
Ann died on 21 August 1872.

Christopher Fielding was baptised on 2 April 1820 in Glossop. He and his wife Mary Ann had three children:
     James Fielding born about 1840. He lived in Connecticut.
     Rowland Fielding born about 1851 in Glossop. 1861 census aged 10, cotton spinner.
     Walter Fielding born about 1852 in Glossop. 1861 census aged 9, cotton spinner.
In the 1861 census Charles was aged 41, an overlooker of spinners in Talbot Street; Mary aged 43.

Generation Five.

Children of John Fielding.

Sarah Fielding was born about 1842 in Glossop. She married W. M. Richardson in Philadelphia PA. They had one child, Ida Richardson.

James Fielding was born on 23 October 1848 in Glossop. He married Emma B. H. Sterner (born 7 February 1853 in Danville PA) on 24 June 1880 in Danville PA. They had one child, Walter James Fielding born on 3 October 1881.
Emma died on 14 November 1883 and was buried in Lewisburg cemetery.
James married Elizabeth Ellen Trumbower (born 30 December 1862 in Danville PA)on 5 January 1887 in Danville PA, died 12 Nov 1942. They had nine children:
     Henry Trumbower Fielding born 21 November 1888.
     Robert Nutter Fielding born 3 November 1890.
     Agnes Louise Fielding born 13 June 1892 in Dalton PA, died Apr 1976 in Wayne PA, buried in Valley Forge Gardens. She married Earl Jerome Rickman (born 26 September 1891 in Guthrie, KY, died 25 May 1938 in St Louis, MO) on 20 September 1919 in Denver, CO. She married (2) Charles Edward Prahman (born 15 April 1892 in Illinois, died 15 May 1962 in Cincinnati, OH) on 29 August 1953 in Valley Forge, PA.
     Donald Myron Fielding born 12 December 1894 in Dalton PA, died 9 October 1918 in Battle of Argonne Forest, France.
     James Edward Fielding born 13 November 1896 in Factoryville PA, died 4 August 1959 in Hollywood FL. He married Helen Suzanne Hatcher (born 1 October 1896, died 16 June 1976 in Boca Raton, FL, buried in Hollywood Memorial Gardens, FL) on 18 October 1921.
     Elizabeth Miriam Fielding born 3 April 1898 in Factoryville PA, died 11 May 1917 in Scranton PA, buried in Dunmore Cemetery.
     Charles Trumbower Fielding born 22 December 1900 in Scranton, PA, died 9 March 1987 in Poplar Bluff, MO, buried 11 March 1987 in Riverside, Macon, GA. He married Rose Carlisle (born 17 February 1908 in Georgia) on 30 May 1931.
     Helen Barbara Fielding born 8 June 1904.
     Jessie Richart Fielding born 16 August 1907.
James Fielding died on 8 October and was buried on 10 October 1919 in Dunmore Cemetery, Scranton PA.
Elizabeth died on 12 November 1942.

Joseph Fielding was born in October 1856 in Connecticut. He married Rebecca Newton, born in Oct 1858 in Pennsylvania and they had five children:
     Lillian Fielding born October 1880 in Pennsylvania, died 1944. She married Hibberd Duey, died 1944.
     Joseph A. Fielding born 13 March 1883.
     John William Fielding born 3 October 1885.
     Robert Lewis Fielding born May 1889.
     James Henry Fielding born Nov 1894.
Rebecca died in November 1918 and Joseph died in 1925.

John W. Fielding was born on 19 November 1861 in Pennsylvania. He married Ida R. Abbott, born November 1862 in Pennsylvania (daughter of John Abbott), d. 26 Oct 1937, buried in Fernwood cemetery in Fernwood, Delaware County, Pa. They had six children:
     Ethel R. Fielding born 8 October 1887.
     George Fielding born 14 August 1889.
     Mae Fielding born 14 August 1889, died 19 September 1916.
     John Abbott Fielding born 13 August 1893.
     Dorothy Fielding born 6 June 1898.
     James Bennett Fielding born 3 May 1898.
John W. Fielding died in 1930 and was buried in Fernwood cemetery in Fernwood, Delaware County, Pa.
Ida died on 26 October 1937 and was buried in Fernwood cemetery in Fernwood, Delaware County, Pa.

Generation Six.

Children of James Fielding.

Walter James Fielding was born on 3 October 1881 in Blackwood, NJ. He married Maude Holgate (born 19 Mar 1882) on 10 June 1903, d. 31 Mar 1959, buried in Rosedale Cemetery, E. Orange, NJ. They had four children:
     Vivian Emma Fielding born 3 February 1905.
     Carolyn Ruth Fielding born 27 December 1906.
     Mary Elizabeth Fielding born 18 April 1908.
     Walter James Fielding born 1 August 1909.
Walter died on 11 December 1937 and Maude died on 31 March 1959. Both buried in Rosedale Cemetery, E. Orange, NJ.

Henry Trumbower Fielding was born on 21 November 1888 in Dalton, PA. He married Elizabeth Stetson Pierce (born 23 October 1889 in Mt. Holly, NJ) on 15 May 1912 in Plainfield, NJ. They had three children:
     Robert Trumbower Fielding born 26 January 1913.
     Miriam Bodine Fielding born 31 October 1914.
     Henry Trumbower Fielding born 30 September 1920.
Elizabeth died on 11 November 1965.

Robert Nutter Fielding was born on 3 November 1890 in Dalton, PA. He married Charlotte Henrietta Gummersbach (born 9 November 1891 in Bound Brook, NJ) on 2 June 1917 in Allentown, PA. They had two children:
     Charlotte Fielding born 26 September 1919.
     Ruth Nutter Fielding born 21 October 1926.
Robert Nutter Fielding died on 5 January 1965 and Charlotte died on 5 March 1981 in Collingswood, NJ. Both are buried in Beverley National Cemetery, NJ.

Helen Barbara Fielding was born on 8 June 1904 in Scranton, PA. She married Edwin Alexander Colson (born 7 May 1907 in Kane, PA) on 10 September 1932 in Plainfield, NJ. Helen died on 10 August 1990 in Newtown, PA and died on 11 September 1985 in Newtown, PA. Both were buried in Valley Forge Gardens.

Jessie Richart Fielding was born on 16 August 1907 in Scranton, PA. She married Aden Isaac Eyster (born 1 Dec 1891 in York County, PA) on 28 April 1934. Jessie died on 2 March 1968 in York, PA and was buried in York New Salem, PA. Aden died on 12 December 1964 in York, PA and was buried in St Jacob's Union Cemetery.

Children of Joseph Fielding.

Joseph A. Fielding was born on 13 March 1883 in Pennsylvania. He married Mary Bradley (born 3 Sep 1882). They had two children:
     Mary Emma Fielding born 10 November 1906, died 1959. She married George Milton Van Winkle born 7 April 1905, died 18 January 1956.
     Lillian Rebecca Fielding born 8 May 1908. She married Wallace Van Winkle born 19 Aug 1907.
Joseph died on 28 September 1959 and Mary on 17 May 1960.

John William Fielding was born on 3 October 1885 in Pennsylvania and died on 28 August 1960 in Drexel Hill, PA. He married Rebecca Barger (born 28 May 1888). They had three children:
     Emma Rebecca Fielding born 13 May 1913. She married Henry Murdoch born 30 September 1910.
     John William Fielding born 26 November 1914. He married Catherine V. Rohr born 18 January 1928.
     Beatrice Laura Fielding born 13 October 1918. She married George S. Milne born 12 September 1915.

Robert Lewis Fielding was born in May 1889 in Pennsylvania and died in 1958. He married Isabelle McConeghey. They had two children:
     Robert Lewis Fielding.
     Isabelle Fielding.

James Henry Fielding was born in November 1894 in Pennsylvania and died on 28 September 1960. He married Mildred Marshall born 4 October 1896. They had three children:
     James Henry Fielding born 21 July 1918. He married Edith Schraeder.
     Richard Marshall Fielding born 23 April 1920. He married Doris Stone born 27 April 1920.
     Dorothy Jean Fielding born 27 April 1929. She married Donald Gotha Wolff born 2 September 1923.

Children of John Fielding.

Ethel R. Fielding was born on 8 October 1887 in Pennsylvania. She married Robert Anderson born 6 September 1887, died 20 July 1947. They had two children:
     Nancy Anderson born 20 May 1912.
     Roberta Anderson born 1 January 1922.

George Fielding was born on 14 August 1889, died 11 May 1948. He married Beulah Greenly and they had one child, Dorothy Fielding born 25 December 1918 (she married William Pilgrim born 1 Aug 1915).

John Abbott Fielding was born on 13 August 1893, died 27 July 1943. He married Anne Souders born 25 September 1900, died 15 July 1961 and they had one child, John Abbott Fielding born 7 July 1925.

Dorothy Fielding was born on 6 June 1898, died 15 May 1936. She married Thomas D. Childrey born 6 November 1896, died 20 January 1958 and they had one child, Thomas D. Childrey born 22 November 1923.

James Bennett Fielding born 3 May 1898. He married Sara Hill born 15 March 1900 and they had one child, Constance Fielding born 7 August 1925.

Generation Seven.

Children of Walter James Fielding.

Vivian Emma Fielding was born 3 February 1905 in Scranton, PA. She married William Joseph Ahern (born 23 April 1898 in Wilkes Barre, PA.) on 9 February 1927 in East Orange, NJ.

Carolyn Ruth Fielding was born on 27 December 1906 in Clarks Green, PA and died on 22 February 1996 in Hilton Head, SC. She married William Gerald Lanterman (born 31 May 1906 in East Orange, NJ) on 26 January 1931 in East Orange, NJ.

Mary Elizabeth Fielding was born on 18 April 1908 in Clarks Green, PA. She married John Kenneth Easton on 19 March 1932 in East Orange, NJ. John was born on 27 August 1908 in Pittsburgh, PA, died on 25 June 1983 in Abington, PA, and was buried on 28 June 1983 in Hillside Cemetery, Abington, PA.

Walter James Fielding was born on 1 August 1909 in Clarks Green, PA. He married Lavinia Mae Garrabrant (born 22 Feb 1909 in Morris Plains, NJ) on 24 April 1937 in Morristown, NJ.

Children of Henry Trumbower Fielding.

Robert Trumbower Fielding was born on 26 January 1913 in Plainfield, NJ and died on 23 May 1983 in Hinsdale, IL. He married (1) Margaret Young Furman (born 17 Mar 1913 in Sterling, IL, d. 8 Oct 1983 in Tucson, AZ) on 1 August 1936 in First Park Bapt Ch, Plainfield, NJ. He married (2) Phyllis O'Brien ( born 17 Dec 1922) on 24 July 1965 in Chicago, IL.

Miriam Bodine Fielding was born on 31 October 1914 in Plainfield, NJ and died on 18 December 1992 in Roswell, NM. She married Robert Otto Bieling on 20 Mar 1937 in First Park Bapt Ch, Plainfield, NJ.

Henry Trumbower Fielding was born on 30 September 1920 in Plainfield, NJ. He married Jacquelyn Glair (born 1 May 1919) on 12 September 1942 in Bond Chapel, Un of Chicago, Chicago, IL.

Children of Robert Nutter Fielding.

Charlotte Fielding was born on 26 September 1919 in Philadelphia, PA, and baptised in First Baptist, Collingswood, NJ. She married Alexander Szabo (born 11 September 1919 in New York, NY, died 1 April 1996 in Collingswood, NJ, buried in Beverly National Cemetery, NJ) on 29 November 1941 in First Baptist, Collingswood, NJ.

Ruth Nutter Fielding was born on 21 October 1926 in Camden, NJ,d died on 6 April 1990 in Camden, NJ and was buried in Eglenton Cemetery. She married Max T. Reihmann (born 24 Jun 1922 in Camden, NJ) on 6 January 1951 in 1st Baptist Church, Collingswood, NJ.
