Whitfield - Mount Pleasant Church Memorials.

Mount Pleasant Memorial

The five windows in front of the Church were placed in memory of the boys who gave their lives, and in recognition of those who gave their services, in the Great War.
The whole cost of the windows and tablet was voluntarily given by the congregation at a cost of £400 and was designed by Mr. Frank Swann.
The young men connected with the Church and Sunday School who gave their lives in the 1914 - 1918 war were: Privates Fred Bradbury, Herbert Taylor, Walter Taylor, George Haughton, Robert Hague, Louis Hadfield, Tom Haughton, Arthur Haughton, Frank Cartwright and Arthur Sandham.

On Sunday December 5th, 1948 an electric organ blower was dedicated by a former minister, the Rev. A. W. Goodwin, in memory of the young men who paid the supreme sacrifice in the 1939 - 1945 war.
It was first switched on by Miss Florence Hoyland, a member of the Church, and sister of one of the young men who gave his life in the war.
The young men who paid the supreme sacrifice were: George Casey, John Hoyland and Stanley Russell.
