Some photos from various random days out further afield.

As with our own doorstep it's also easy not to go to places slightly further away. This page records some trips to such places..

We had a shorter time away in Scotland than intended, so we decided to go to Whitby for the day on 10th August. An enjoyable sunny day plus fish & chips at Alexanders. We saw signs for the park & ride (which I had forgotten about) as we approached the town, so decided to use that. Absolutely brilliant, far less hassle than trying to find a parking space in the town itself and a heck of a lot cheaper. Buses run every few minutes during the day and the motorhome friendly spaces are well signposted..

The weather forecast for Teesside for 14th September 2016 was overcast so we decided that we would go inland to a place I had never been before, High Force in Upper Teesdale. We then retraced our steps as far as Bowlees, where we were able to park and visit Low Force before going back to the car to eat our picnic lunch. Then, having eaten our lunch, we walked up the valley to Bowlees Quarry, Gibson's Cave and Summerhill Force. A fine, sunny and enjoyable day out.

It had been a long time since we went to Pickering so we made that our destination on 28th September 2016, going over the moors via Castleton, Blakey Ridge and Hutton le Hole. Whilst there we enjoyed a look around the Beck Isle Museum before having a tasty fish & chip lunch in Capplemans. We decided to return via Helmsley, another place we hadn't visited for a good while, and took the opportunity to buy some cooked meats and Yorkshire curd tart from Hunters.

Another place we had not been to for many years was Barnard Castle so we made that our main destination on 2nd November 2016. We had a nice walk round and an excellent fish & chip lunch at Katie's Restaurant before stopping off to take photos at Whorlton Bridge and Winston Bridge on the way back.

It was rather wet and cold on 9th November so we chose an indoor destination, The National Railway Museum at York.

A walk round Durham on 23rd November 2016.

A visit to Richmond and Leyburn on 3rd June 2017.
