Cab Security.

As mentioned on the Security page, the cab door locks are reasonably substantial - but anything can be improved.

In January 2007 A Thread was posted on the Out & About Live forum about the fitting of cheaper alternatives to the Heosafe deadlocks. They are in fact sash jammers, the ones shown being sold at the time by Screwfix as Frame Guards. I bought a pair then but never got round to fitting them. They were mislaid in the garage and not found until a clear out seven years later. I subsequently fitted them to the Burstner. Fitting was reasonably easy though I did break a few drill bits drilling pilot holes (cheap bits was the problem I think). A small amount of the padding of the door trim became wrapped round the bit and melted to it with the heat so had to be shaved off with a craft knife.
The photos to the right are of the passenger door: closed with the frame guard set; closed with the frame guard unset and open with the frame guard unset.

The frame guards came with lockable inserts which fit into the recess at the top but they can be used without (allowing a quicker exit in emergency).

As recommended in the original thread (in order to enable the insert to be used) countersunk screws (20mm x 4mm) were used at the top and domed screws (30mm x 4mm) for the bottom.

Note the use of a shim, required because the trim on the driver side door frame is slightly thicker than on the passenger side.
