Alice Hannah Buckley was born in 1873 to parents - Walter Joseph Buckley born 1848 and Mary Ann Bradbury born 1848, daughter of Jordan Bradbury (1808 – 1876) and his first wife Elizabeth Newton (1810 – 1854).
Her father, Walter Buckley, died in 1878. Her mother re-married in 1889 to widower John A Bagshaw born 1852 in Chapel en le Frith, a wheelwright by trade.
Alice married James Goldstraw in 1893 and daughter Gertrude was born in 1894. Sadly, Alice Hannah died in 1897.
Her daughter Gertrude married Albert Wilde in 1919, their daughter Muriel was born in 1928.

Watson Ormsby Smyth The teacher seated far left is Watson Ormsby Smyth, who was born in Ireland circa 1887; his parents were also teachers. He married Irene Elizabeth Booth; only daughter of Wright Booth, who was the School Master of Edmund Potter’s Dinting Print Works School, Irene was also a school teacher. Watson Smyth died in 1917 whilst serving with the, 2nd/20th battalion London Regiment during the First World War; he is buried in the Karasouli Military Cemetery, Greece. His young widow did not remarry and lived at 7 North Road, until her death in 1966.

Elsie Workman Elsie Workman was a teacher at Whitfield C of E School for around 10 years. She was presented with a handsome brass carriage clock, pictured right, when she left Glossop in 1912. The treasured clock was inherited by her Great Nephew, Robert Pritchard, who has provided the photos and information. Clock, 1912
