Irvine Miller was a 16 year old cotton mill errand boy, residing at 13, Church Street, Tintwistle. He was the son of William Miller, a pedlar, and Emily Miller.

Irvine Miller was born in 1894 in Tintwistle, the son of William Miller and Emily, formerly Haigh, who were married in 1887 (registration district Hayfield).
