Abel Harrop was an 18 year old cotton spinner's piecer, residing at 3, New Road, Tintwistle. He was the son of James Harrop, a cotton spinner's overlooker, and Sarah Ann Harrop

Abel Harrop was born in 1892 in Tintwistle, the son of James Harrop and Sarah Ann, formerly Lees, who married in 1878 (Ashton civil marriage).

Commemorated on the memorial at: Tintwistle, Local Commonwealth War Grave, Glossop - Grammar School and Tintwistle United Reformed Church.
