Albert Battye was a 25 year old cotton spinner, recorded as lodging at the home of his brother James Battye, a cotton spinner, at 7 New Road, Tintwistle

Albert Battye was born in 1888 in Tintwistle, the son of John Battye and Martha, formerly Stott, who were married in 1881 at St Paul's Church, Portwood, Stockport.
He was the cousin of James Wilson, son of his father's sister Hannah. He is also commemorated on the Tintwistle War Memorial.
