Husband of Christiana, and father of Edith Boot. Son of Joseph Boot, a railway goods porter, of 11, Marlow Street, Hadfield, Derbyshire

John Ashworth Boot was born in 1885 (registration district Hayfield), the son of Joseph Boot and Ann, formerly Beard, who were married in 1879 (registration district Hayfield).
He married Christiana McCrone in the first quarter of 1910 at St Andrew, Hadfield. Their daughter, Edith was born in the third quarter of 1910 (registration district Glossop).
His medal card shows he arrived in France/Flanders on 11 January 1915. UK, Army Registers of Soldiers' Effects, 1901-1929 shows gratuity paid to widow, Christiana.
John’s wife, Christiana, married for the second time in 1919, when she married William Critchlow at St John, Charlesworth, Derbyshire. There do not appear to be any children for this marriage.

Commemorated on the memorial at: Hadfield, Tintwistle, Hadfield - St. Andrew's Church and Padfield - Independent Sunday School.
