Joshua
Garlick was baptised on 1 May 1799 in St Mary's Chapel, Charlesworth.
He emigrated with Robert (see below) and was living close to Robert's
family in the 1850 US census He married Mary Downes and they had
seven children:

Garlick, baptised 4 Jan 1824 in St Mary's Chapel, Charlesworth.

Garlick, baptised 15 May 1831 in St Mary's Chapel, Charlesworth.

Mary
and their children emigrated in 1848.
Robert
Garlick was baptised in 1801 in St Mary's Chapel, Charlesworth. He
was described as "of Bridge End, Gardiner" when Emma was
baptised and cotton weaver of Howardtown at the 1841 census (age 37).
He married Emma Fielding, born 22 Nov 1796 in Whitfield, daughter of
Charles Fielding and Ann Lomas (see Descendants of John Fielding of Whitfield 1674).
They had two children:
     Emma
Garlick, baptised 18 Apr 1837 in Glossop.
     Robert
Garlick, baptised 27 Nov 1839.
They
emigrated from Liverpool and arrived in Boston on 4 July 1842, the
record showing: Robt. Garlick 37 cotton dresser, Emma Garlick 38,
Emma Garlick 5; Robert Garlick 2, Joshua Garlick 39 farmer,
travelling on the ship Monmouth going to Ohio.
In
the 1850 census, Robert 50, Emma, 52 and Emma 13, are in Lockport,
Will county, Illinois in 1850 census. Robert is a gardener. In 1860
they are still there, but this time only Robert 57, and Emma 63, no
trace of young Emma. No trace of any of them in 1870 or 1880. There
are 4 land transactions noted in the deeds index - 1842, Emma, 1848
Robert, and two in 1853 for Robert.
