Vaudrey-Collier connection.

Generation One.

Thomas Vawdry of Ashton under Lyne married Mary Lees on 24 December 1741 in St Michael's Ashton under Lyne. They had three children:
     Lydia Vaudrey.
Samuel Vawdry, baptised July 1747 in Ashton under Lyne.
Hannah Vawdry, baptised 5 January 1751 in Ashton under Lyne. Lived in Dukinfield.

Generation Two.

Lydia Vaudrey was baptised on 13 January 1744 in Ashton under Lyne. Her surname appears in the marriage register as Bawdrey but, as she made her mark, she would be unaware of the mistake. She married John Collier, born about 1715/16, on 3 March 1767 in St Mary's, Stockport. He was cousin to another John Collier (see The Collier family of Howardtown). They had five known children:
Mary Collier baptised 9 August 1767.
Hannah Collier, baptised 1 October 1771 in Dukinfield, buried 18 November 1771 in Dukinfield.
Thomas Collier, baptised 13 December 1772 in Dukinfield.
Hannah Collier, baptised 21 August 1776 in Dukinfield.
Nancy Collier, baptised 1778 in Chinley Independent.
John Collier, aged 77 of Dukinfield, died on 27 August and was buried on 29 August 1793 in Dukinfield.

Naming patterns suggest that John and Lydia maye have had another son, James, who became a publican at the Commercial, Glossop (see The Collier family, Publicans, Commercial Inn, Glossop) but no baptism for him has been found.

Generation Three.

Mary Collier was baptised on 9 August 1767 in Dukinfield Old Chapel (Presbyterian). She married William Hadfield, born about 1767, son of Joseph Hadfield and Mary Robinson (see The Hadfield family of Cowbrook) on 6 November 1791 in Glossop.
