The following information was kindly supplied by Karen Burns, his great niece, as were the photographs.
William Scholes was born 28 Feb 1882 in Padfield, the sixth (out of 9) child of William Henry Scholes and his wife Elizabeth (nee Warhurst). In July 1907 he married Harriet Hannah Wood (1882 - 1965) at Bank St Wesleyan Chapel in Hadfield. They had one daughter Lilian Mary Scholes born 28 May 1911, died 1965. He had many family connections with Tintwistle URC. The photos show him in uniform, when he married, the cross that was put up on his grave (presumably before the headstone was made) and the family gravestone in Glossop cemetery.
