Canadian Army Service records information:
Harold was born in Derbyshire, on the 3rd December 1889. He enlisted in Chatham, Ontario, 26th October 1914, stating his occupation as a farm labourer, and his next of kin as George William Bancroft, of 48, Avenue, Hadfield, Derbyshire. He had previously served with the Lancashire Fusiliers for two years. He was five feet six and a half inches in height, had a light complexion, blue eyes and brown hair, and he was a Wesleyan.
