BOWDEN, A.
Albert Bowden was the son of Anthony and Mary Sophia Bowden, of 8, Manchester Road, Hollingworth, Manchester.
He was mobilised on 19 January 1917, and was posted to the British Expeditionary Force, France on 14 February 1917.
He died of influenza at the 42nd Casualty Clearing Station, Cuincy, France on 12 February 1919 and is buried Douai British Cemetery, Cuincy; grave reference D20.
From his Army Service Record, it is known that he married Jane Ellen Grime on 6 June 1914 at Holy Trinity Church, Dinting , Glossop, and they had a son, Harold, born 2 October 1916. He lived with his wife and son at 89 Surrey Street, Glossop.

Living with his widowed father, Anthony Bowden, retired cotton spinner, at 8 Manchester Road, Hollingworth, Cheshire, together with sister Elizabeth Ann Bowden and brother Jonathan Bowden.
Albert's brother, Jonathan Bowden, born 1894, also died as a result of the Great War and his name is recorded on the Tintwistle War Memorial.
