Joseph was born in Charlesworth, Derbyshire, on the 3rd
May 1891. He enlisted at Estevan, Saskatchewan, 29th
November 1915, stating his occupation as a clerk, and his next of kin
as Alfred Cooper, of Marple Road, Charlesworth, Derbyshire.
He
was five feet three inches in height, had a dark complexion, blue
eyes and black hair, and he belonged to the Church of England. He had
a scar on the side of his chin.
